Christmas is in 13 days!
Every Christmas eve, my family gets together to celebrate the holidays. SInce we have a small picture taking session by the Christmas tree, we like to dress up and pretend that we’re living the “Gossip Girl” lifestyle.
I usually attend the parties in red or emerald green, but this year I want to celebrate in different fashion: White Christmas theme.

Style Icons: Jane Birkin
A Birkin bag wouldn’t be anything without Jane Birkin. Her English by way of France background lends itself to her perfectly nonchalant European style – she could look glamorous or feminine without looking like she tried. Her wardrobe staples included knitted turtlenecks, short hemlines, knee-high socks, subtle gold necklaces, classic tailored blazers and peacoats, and the occasional shockingly flirtatious frock. In her heyday, Jane looked bohemian without looking at all like the hippies and flower children of the time. And besides her affinity for micro-minis, her style wasn’t trendy, nor was she a trendsetter. Instead, Jane made classics like sweaters and jeans fresh. To make your wardrobe a little more like this style icon’s, you don’t have to shell out thousands for a Birkin bag. Just invest in some basics (think t-shirts, chunky knitted tops, tailored shorts, winter outerwear) that are timeless and flatter your body. Then add a couple things that are signature you: a memorable haircut, maybe rolling up your t-shirt sleeves, or a certain fit of pants like skinny or 70s-flared.

Get Stylin’s Bellagolka wore this look to a summer fair, choosing to keep things practical (shorts, combat boots, a crossbody bag) and unfussy. Fun summer evenings out aren’t so fun if you’re tugging at your clothes or wearing uncomfortable shoes, right? Still, she kept this outfit cute and stylish with a punch of orange, layering a lightweight top and denim jacket, and adding a silver necklace. Show us what you’re wearing at GetStylin.com!
DIY: Hex Nut Bracelet (from AngelaMinjiKim)

This easy and inexpensive DIY bracelet is constructed using only a few materials: some cord, hardware store hex nuts, a few jewelry materials like chain, and things you already have around like scissors and tape. It was inspired by a Giles and Brother version that will set you back about $185 - why empty your wallet when you can make it yourself in no time? Give it a try, and show us how you would wear it on GetStylin.com!
Style Recap: Stockholm StreetStyle

This look from the always inspirational Stockholm StreetStyle blog is eclectic and fun, but easy to pull off as well. The monochromatic red is flattering in lengthening the body, but the silhouette of this outfit is still relaxed and casual - perfect for summer! Colorful jewelry adds punch and personality, and the cool aviators are both sensible and stylish. I love how this style is finished off with a neutral brown envelope clutch and white platform sandals. Nothing here is too matchy-matchy, and yet it coordinates perfectly!

This outfit from chloemontana is a great way to look put-together in the middle of the hot-hot July heat. She shows that you don’t have to give up your shorts and tees when going to work, a semi-formal meeting, or other special occasion. Just make sure to ditch your ripped denim and graphic short-sleeved variety and opt for more delicate fabrics and tailored finishes. chloemontana did this perfectly with a lace top and scallop-hemmed shorts. Also take note of her minimalist jewelry and the little kick of edge of her leopard wedges. Show us your take on this look at Get Stylin’!
